History:
Founded in August 1967. The building was willed to a non-profit organization by Charles & Anna (Bukacek) Novotny. Built in 1899 the former owners had a furniture store, mortuary, electrical, music, paint, sewing machines, pianos, and many other items. Since 1967 there have been over 50 officers, trustees, and volunteers who have made this museum what it is today. All have been very instrumental in collecting, preserving, and displaying historical artifacts used in the growth and development of the community.
About us:
The Clarkson Museum contains over 5000 local heritage artifacts. Both stories of the museum are heated and air-conditioned. We are a non-profit organization financed solely by membership fees, donations, and memorials. Thanks to very generous donors we have been able to remodel several rooms and have installed heat and air-conditioning in the upper floor. The museum consists of two kitchens, a newly remodeled military room, a farming room with over 300 miniature tractors, school, photography, two dining rooms, two bedrooms, sitting room, medical, music, mortuary, sewing, wedding gown room, large library area, and several areas with fancy handy work, and organizations memorabilia i.e. Boy and Girl Scouts, Sokol, 4-H, Lions Club, and local Baseball Team Info. You will NOT be disappointed in viewing this museum! Clarkson also has the Clarkson Bakery, Tomans Meat Market, Bluebird Nursery, and the Petr House Bed and Breakfast, and the Historical Opera House. Many tours come to this town, so call us so we can line up a wonderful fun-filled day!
